10:40 am - Also this from last night!

From our report last night:
A Personal Note from the Baroness:
At the end of Kingdom Arts and Sciences, I was approached by Mistress Morgaina
who was a merchant selling her beautiful pottery. She handed me a gorgeous pelican
plate and told me that it had been purchased for me and the buyer wished to
remain anonymous. All my best pleading and coaxing were of no avail, and she
would not tell me who to thank. So…if you are out there? Thank you so very much.
It is beautiful and I will cherish it. It has a plate stand and sits on my glass
shelves with the other items I treasure most.

3:05 pm - For Aelfgyfu asks
How do you generally feel about circus arts/juggling, and how do you feel about it in your life specifically?

As with all the talents I don't possess, I admire greatly those that can juggle.  But I have no manual dexterity. I especially love to watch Cedric juggle, I love to watch Cedric watch juggling.  He enjoys it so much, and gets this big kid like grin on his face. One of my favorite possessions is the glass juggling ball that Aelfa gave to the judges at Kingdom A&S two years ago!

8:30 pm - We did it!!!!!!!!!!!
What am amazing day!!!!  Got up at 4:30 this morning to pick up [info]lilcindylouwhoo and hubby. Got the 6:30 ferry from Bremerton and off to the Race! Met up with a couple more guys and buzzed around Westlake Center for a while before the race started... The 6 of us and 12,000 other people! Largest turnout ever for the Jingle Bell Run...
The race for our group started promptly at 9:00. The first 6 blocks were an uphill incline, and then down to the express lanes of I-5. We ran and ran and ran as it tried to snow in flurries. Then in the tunnel we ran with lots and lots of folks singing "Jingle Bells!" I couldn't believe the sheer numbers of runners, joggers and walkers. We ran and ran and ran some more...then saw the sign that said 1 mile... I was bummed! I was sure we had run twice that far!!! So we ran and ran and ran some more. I discovered that I am not a talker when I run... I tend to go inside my brain and just focus on that next step. I need to lighten up and enjoy the experience more. The we passed the sign that said 2 miles... I felt pretty good. Cedric had taken my Santa hat off my head and I was much more comfortable.... we (and by we I mean 50 or 60 of us at a time)  made the hairpin turn back on the express lanes. After a brief incline most of it was downhillish.... then we exited onto pine ran and uphill a bit and downhill a bit then more and more downhill... at this point I noticed that the masses ( hard to describe without actually being there) were moving up hill, steeply... That was the low point of the race!  I was sure I couldn't do it.
Cedric kept telling me to breathe and [info]lilcindylouwhookept telling me to take short strides, while Talon kept telling me I was doing super... pretty soon we were at the top of the hill turning the corner.
As we turned the corner I could see the finish line 5 blocks away... all down hill. I started to cry.... tears running down my face as we ran the last leg of the race. Cedric kept telling me to slow down, but there was no way!!! As we reached the last block we all held hands as we ran into the crowd at the finish line.
We had finished the race, without stopping, without walking, running the entire way!!! I still can hardly believe it.
After a year of planning and working and training with literally two steps forward one step back... We had accomplished out goal... What an incredible feeling! We celebrated with mochas from the Dilletante Chocolate store, and a healthy lunch.
Then back to the Bremerton ferry where we ran into the incomprable [info]countess_eand home  in time for a visit with [info]mrq_laurellenand [info]arontiusand other friends. Also for [info]lilcindylouwhoo's birthday surprise for me! A pedicure!! I have never has a pedicure and never, ever had my toe nails painted. Where has this been all my life!!! What fun!!
Then a quick drive to play Soccer. It was a fun game... we lost... but tons of fun. The out to dinner and we are home now... and pretty tired. What a great way to spend our 7th Anniversary!!!!
I am very proud of myself and of Cedric who ran with me, despite his ankle issues. The plan now it  a shower and to give his ankles a good rub.
We found out that there is another 5K run in March.... I think we could do it... and will start practicing later this week!!!

6:18 pm - Me too

Your Score: Saffron

You scored 75% intoxication, 50% hotness, 75% complexity, and 50% craziness!

You are Saffron! Those other spices have nothing on you! You're warm, smart, and you make people feel really good (and with no side-effects!). You can be difficult to get to know and require a lot of those who try, but you're so totally worth it. *Sigh*

8:59 am - Home and Tired

Thank you all for the wonderful Birthday Wishes!!!! What a great group of freinds I have.
I had a fantastic birthday, down at my Dad's. Came home full of fresh crab (my Dad caught 12 on Wednesday and my son caught 12 Thanksgiving Morning!) and tired. Man my Dad is hard to keep up with!
Thursday was full of cooking goodness...very traditional..just the way Dad likes it....
Friday Cedric and got up at 7 and hit the local Fred Meyer for sales.... we went for socks...they were on sale. We ended up filling a cart with all sorts of things...then we stood back and looked at everything we had put in the cart...and at all the people running around frantically. We looked at each other shrugged and walked away from the cart and out of the store. It was amazing! Instead we went home and made breakfast for Dad and Andrew. That was much more fun... the rest of the day was was bopping around Seaside, watching the crowds...making the pilgramige to the Pendleton Wool outlet, doing the traditional bagel lunch with Marcella and then home to have leftovers and watch White Christmas on TV. I got lots of hand sewing done...Cedric even took a turn at embellishing a bag or two, he did a great job!
Saturday was breakfast out... then home to do chores for Dad. We went exploring at Fort Stevens and found the yurt camping... I see the possiblility of a non sca yurt adventure in my future...15 yurts...each sleeping 5 people... we could have a blast!
Saturday evening was spent in the cold watching Marcella play Mrs. Claus. I thought both my Dad and St. Andrew were going freeze to death, neither of them have an ounce of fat to keep warm. Post parade and really pathetic community sing a long... we fortified with scotch and then went out to Birthday Dinner... it was soo yummy. I will be in the gym every day this week to make sure I can still fit into the loverly apron dress that

[info]fragmentsofnim has been working on!
Got home yesterday afternoon after stopping at Shipwreck Beads to refill our beas supply for baronial award necklaces. Had a slight adventure there. This nice man came up and commented on the objects in our cart, then shook both our hands... Cedric asked him if he worked there..and he said " Well, they let me help out once and a while...I actually own the company." Of course Cedric struck up a conversation and they walked all over the store talking about beads and wire. My husband has never met a stranger! We spent the rest of the day running and visiting... it was a long day, but spent time with some of our favorite people in the world!!!

Now onto preparing for Yule this weekend. My to do list is intimidatingly long! But if I apply myself it will all get done and Yule will be a blast! We have 4 competitors for Bardic!  The year of A&S has been a huge success!!!!

12:44 pm - I can live with this

Your Score: quotation marks

You scored 61% Sociability and 70% Sophistication!

There is a lot more to you than meets the eye. You certainly get plenty of "action," but you'd be happier if those who lusted after you were more selective. You hate being used as a general intensifier; haven't these people ever heard of underlining? Italics? And yes, you remember the cruel words Mr. Joyce directed at you. But you let none of this get you down; those who abuse you are destined for a "special" reward, sooner or later. You feel particularly warm toward periods, commas, exclamation points, and question marks, and usually wish to have them next to you. Parenthesis can sometimes trouble you.

10:12 am - Wow!
This Barony never ceases to amaze me. When I agreed to help with the gate at An Tir West War, I had a commitment from 5 people to come down with me. Since Cedric wasn't goin to be able to make it, they agreed to put me up in their tent and keep me company at the gate. I announced at the business meeting that I was going with a small group and invited anyone who wanted to come help to join us. At the present count we have almost 30 people confirmed to make the trip! OMG!!! I am so thrilled. And Cedric gets to come also!!!
I have a group coming down with me on Thursday to set up the gate and run it until more people show up on Friday, and as a bonus I have some local volunteers also! (thanks Emma!). We could still use more, so if you are going and want something fun to do Friday night after set up...come see me!
But once again, I have to say I really am humbled and so inspired by this group of motivated, energetic people that we get to play with. Although at times it is feels like a barony filled with goldern retriever pups running everywhere at once... they are utterly amazing...

5:27 pm - Graduation Day
Yay St. Andrew!!!  Graduation happened today. I was such a mom... I got teary as the kids walked in two by two.. all 387 of them! It was a beautiful graduation a great cross between the pomp and circumstance and fun. The most touching moments were:
The introduction of the oldest graduate, a WWII vetran who quit school to join the army in 1941. He recieved a diploma along with his grandaughter.
The entire class standing and applauding twice during the ceremony the first time for Aaron, a young honor student, who 4 weeks ago was riding a dirt bike, went off a jump and crashed. He is now a quadraplegic...but he was there to pick up his diploma. And the second for Mikey, a young man critically injured on Thanksgiving Day... they told him he would most likely never walk again. Mike walked across the stage recieved his diploma and held it up for everyone to see. He then walked off the stage unassisted.
We cheered like crazy when Andrew accepted his diploma, and when his buddies recieved theirs. Other than a very brief encounter with his paternal unit and grandparents it was a glorious day!

current mood: relieved

You life an interesting, colorful life - and you bring color to those around you.
